The Soul of Our Work

Weaving More Than Products. We Weave Opportunity
Vetiver Gallery Indonesia is, at its core, a social enterprise. Our true purpose lies not just in what we create, but in how we create it and who benefits. We believe in building an economy that works for everyone, starting from the grassroots up. Our impact is felt across Garut, village by village, family by family.

The Plasma Partnership: A Community Ecosystem
We don't operate like a traditional factory. We have built a 'plasma' system – a network of interconnected, specialized groups spread across numerous villages. This decentralised model ensures that the economic benefits ripple outwards, touching as many lives as possible.
Meet the heart of our operation:

The Cultivators
Our vetiver and bamboo farmers, the stewards of our primary resource.
The Harvesters
Skilled individuals who carefully gather the roots and bamboo, ensuring sustainability.
The Sorters
With a keen eye, they grade the raw materials, preparing them for the next stage.
The Cleaners
Meticulously washing and preparing the roots – a crucial, labour-intensive step.

The Weavers
Predominantly women, many working from their own homes, transforming roots into intricate woven sheets.
The Tailors
Shaping the woven materials into bags, pouches, and other forms.
The Crafters
Assembling our bamboo products with precision.
The Finishers & Painters
Adding the final touches, colours, and protective layers.

The Quality Guardians
Our dedicated team ensuring every single product meets our high standards before it reaches you.

For a single product to reach completion, it passes through many hands, each one contributing their skill and earning a fair wage. This isn't just business; it's community economics in action.
Empowering Women, Uplifting Lives
We are deeply committed to empowering the women of Garut. We recognised early on that many women possess incredible skills but face barriers to traditional employment, often needing to balance work with childcare and household responsibilities.
That’s why, even before it became a global necessity, we championed a 'Work From Home' model for our weavers. We provide the materials and the training, and they weave from the comfort and safety of their own homes, on their own schedule. This allows them to earn a vital income whilst remaining present for their families. It’s a model built on trust, flexibility, and respect.
We also actively seek to include peka penyintas – vulnerable individuals and survivors within our community. We believe that meaningful work provides more than just an income; it provides dignity, purpose, and a pathway to healing and independence. We strive to create a supportive, inclusive environment where everyone has the chance to thrive.
By supporting Vetiver Gallery Indonesia, you are directly investing in these women, helping them build resilience, gain financial independence, and become powerful agents of change within their families and villages.
